Custom Built Garages

Custom GaragesNorth Country wants to see you happy and satisfied. That’s why we take pride in building customized garages, specialized to your unique needs and desires. We build it how you want it. Bring us your ideas and drawings, and we’ll go from there—working with you from start to finish.

Your custom garage can look how you want it—with all the options available for our storage sheds. The most popular options for custom garages are metal side doors, ridge vents and workbenches.

Our garages have the same specifications as our other storage buildings, except our garages have heavier floors for the daily traffic of vehicles. We build our floors with pressure treated joists spaced every 12″. The floor is sheeted with 3/4″ pressure treated plywood— wood floors are perfect for long-term storage of classical cars, as tires do not rot as easily on wood.

Our team is excited to build your garage exactly how you want it. Our goal is to create your custom garage to practically fit your every need and artistically blend in with your landscape.

Site Preparation

Your structure will be delivered to your location fully assembled and ready to use. These are large buildings and there must be adequate room for access by tractor-trailer. Some of the smallest units can be delivered by pickup truck and trailer. If you would like you could have an North Country Storage Barn salesperson do a onsite inspection to make sure your site is accessible.  Your driveway must be a stone base or free of all mud at time of delivery. Where your driveway is straight, we need an area approximately 2 feet wider than the width of the structure and 14 feet high. All turns must be cleared to provide sufficient room to maneuver. North Country Storage barns can prepare your site and or construct the concrete pad if you would like.

Site Clearing

Site ClearingYour site must be clear of all trees, tree limbs, etc. within the access area.  If your structure is going on a crushed stone or concrete pad, your structure will be delivered with a special-built trailer similar to a rollback. The driver will back his truck onto the prepared pad, then tilt the trailer until the rear of the structure is resting on the pad. He will then drive out from underneath the structure. There must be adequate room in front of the cabin for the truck to pull straight out. This distance varies with the length of the building: approximately 85 feet to 150 feet; this will vary from one site to another.

Concrete Pad

Sites are prepared with 6” of concrete for the placement of the structure. The concrete pad will be the same size as the structure you are ordering. We can do it for you or you can prepare the site yourself.

Site Clearing

  • Most home garage doors are 7' tall, which is fine for most cars and minivans
  • 8' foot high doors can fit the larger pickup trucks, and SUV's
  • 12' foot high doors are needed for many campers and boats
  • 13' 6" is the legal height limit for the highway, so even a semi truck will fit in a 14' high door.
  • 9' wide span for each passenger car
  • 16' wide span (minimum) for 2 cars
  • 10' wide span for each boat or trailer
  • 12' wide doors for a semi tractor and larger RV's
  • Keep at least two or three feet between doors, (or from the wall to the door) so that car doors can open with plenty of clearance
