This customer purchased a 12' octagon gazebo and had us place it on on a retaining wall right next to the home.
The retaining wall sits upon the sloping yard and allows a nice overview of the tree line. The view from the gazebo is optimal for viewing outside. It's like a lookout on the yard. Just think of the prime viewing of the wildlife and taking a break from the daily routine. This is a great place to relax and enjoy the outside free from sun burns and annoying bugs.
The walkway from the home to the gazebo offers a clean path and benefits the gazebo to stay free from grass clippings and loose leaves being tracked inside.
The stone base is optimal for the gazebo. The 3/4" - 1.5" crusher run gravel, or as gravel yards call it, #2 crusher run, is the best use for a shed or gazebo. A 6" minimum base of crusher run is prime for your gazebo or shed. First off, when rain drips from the roof onto the ground, it does not splash up dirt and grime. The crusher run tends to pack and create a solid base. This is much better and highly recommended over a concrete pad. A concrete pad will cost a lot more and will end up cracking once water pools up under your structure and then freezes.
Secondly, the crushed stone base allows air to flow under your shed or gazebo and keep your structure dry and enjoyable for generations to come. For longevity, you will want air to be able to flow around and under your structure. This will keep the wood free from moisture preventing decay and deterioration over the years.
